2022 VETERANS DAY PARADE INFORMATION: (PLEASE NOTE CHANGES FROM LAST YEAR! THIS PARADE IS A ONE-WAY POINT TO POINT PARADE - DROP OFF IS IN DIFFERENT LOCATION THAN LINE UP!!)

  

MUSTER:  11 NOV 2022 at 0800   

    

PARKING AND SHUTTLE TO MUSTER LOCATION : Cadets and parent parking is at the Shipyards this year (NOT PRIME OSBORN).  Please see the map attached. There are two grass lots across from the Maxwell House coffee plant near the TIAA Stadium. Your cadet will need to catch a shuttle from this lot to the Prime Osborn Center for lineup.  THIS IS A POINT TO POINT ROUTE THIS YEAR!!

PARADE LENGTH/ROUTE: 1.0 miles – begins on Water Street at the Prime Osborn Center and will end at the Jaguar Stadium where you dropped your cadet off. 

     

PARADE LINE UP LOCATION AND DEADLINE: All cadets should leave sufficient time to park, catch a shuttle and then walk to our line up location. We will have adult volunteers who will be riding the shuttle back and forth to collect cadets. OUR PARADE LINE UP POSITION IS ROW 7-5 AT THE PRIME OSBORN LOT (see map).  We will have adult volunteers to help guide your cadets to the line up but save this information in case you need to escort your cadet personally.

​PARADE START TIME: The parade will officially begin at 1101     

  

UNIFORM OF THE DAY: Sea Cadets = Dress Whites/ League Cadets = “Salt & Pepper” dress white.     

PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: PLEASE REPLY IF YOU ARE WILLING TO VOLUNTEER

>>We need 4 parents to walk with the unit and assist as needed bringing water to cadets. Need to be able to walk the entire route. Unit t-shirts will be provided.

>>We also need 1-2 parents to ride the shuttle buses back and forth to ensure that we pick up all cadets in the parking area, get on the shuttle bus, and then get to the correct line up location. They will be stationed at both ends of shuttle route.

Arriving & Parking.  Cadets will arrive and park in Lots X by the Shipyards (near the stadium - see map attached). These are two grass lots across from the Maxwell House coffee plant near the TIAA Stadium. Your cadet will need to catch a shuttle from this lot to the Prime Osborn Center for lineup. Please have your cadet wait by the shuttle pick up location in the parking lot.  Your cadet will WAIT until the adult shuttle volunteer identifies them or by other sea cadets waiting for the shuttle. Parents - you are welcome to ride the shuttle with your cadet to the line up location.  Cadets may begin arriving as early as 0800 but MUST be there by 0830 so they do not miss the line up deadline.

Viewing. Parents and family might want to bring folding chairs. There is good viewing all along the parade route.    

After the Parade. While the parade ending time can vary, we expect it to end at approximately 12:30 p.m. The parade route will conclude by the drop off parking. Please plan to meet your cadet at the end of the parade to check them out.so they can be released to go home.

Weather.  The Veterans Day Parade is a rain or shine event.  However, if it gets dangerous (not expected) the City will notify us and we will get the word out In all circumstances, we will return to the drop off Parking area.    

   

Waivers. REMINDER! All cadets (and adult/parent participating staff) are required to sign a Release of Liability Waiver and Indemnification form. A parent or legal guardian must sign on behalf of a minor. We will be collecting these waivers at the drop off point. A waiver was sent home and also we will have some extra cadet and adult waivers at the drop off point.       

 

Parade Prep for Cadets. EAT BREAKFAST. DRINK WATER. PREPARE YOUR UNIFORM AND DOUBLE CHECK YOU HAVE ALL NECESSARY UNIFORM ITEMS BEFORE THE NIGHT BEFORE THE PARADE.

Sea Cadets - Make sure your dress whites are cleaned and pressed properly – seams on the pants are inverted and down the sides – DO NOT PRESS A CENTER SEAM ON YOUR DRESS WHITE PANTS! If you are unsure - consult your cadet leadership for guidance.      

League Cadets - do not forget to wear a white crew neck t-shirt under your short-sleeve white blouse and remember toi bring your name tag and any ribbons. Dixie cover and belt/buckle.

IF YOU CANNOT PARTICIPATE IN THE PARADE YOU MUST FILL OUT A LEAVE OF ABSENCE FORM! We are aware that some of you are required to march with your JROTC unit and/or you do not have a school holiday and cannot attend but it is important to let the unit know so we will not be looking for you at the start of the parade. https://www.fdrseacadets.org/leave-of-absence-from-drill-request
